A cluster of luxurious villas in Changdao in central China’s Wuhan city have been totally isolated due to the incessant rainfall, as the only link to the city center was cut off on Friday.

Situated along Tangxunhu Lake, the villas are sought as the most sumptuous residences in the city, with each one costing up to 80 million yuan (approx. 12 million US dollars). However, heavy rainstorms, leading to floods have submerged the lower levels of the villas.

According to the Department of Civil Affairs of Hubei Province, the consecutive rainfall has already affected around 13.12 million people’s basic daily lives and claimed 52 lives around the province as of this Friday. Wuhan, the severely affected area, still has 10 streets that are still waterlogged.
